Lawton sits in Comanche County, and most of the casinos around it belong to the Comanche Nation. The best-known one does not. Apache Casino Hotel, on East Gore Boulevard by I-44 Exit 37, is a business of the Fort Sill Apache Tribe, whose members descend from Chiricahua and Warm Springs Apaches who were removed from their homelands in New Mexico, Arizona and northern Mexico and held by the United States as prisoners of war from 1886 to 1914. After years at Army posts in Florida and Alabama, the prisoners were moved to Fort Sill, the Army post beside Lawton, in 1894 and told it would be their permanent home. That is how an Apache tribe came to run a casino in the middle of Comanche country, and why the tribe counts Geronimo, Cochise and Mangas Coloradas among its historical figures.

Apache Casino Hotel: the one with the rooms

Anyone searching for Lawton casino hotels ends up here, because it is the only casino inside the city with a hotel attached. The tribe's casino opened in 1999, and a $12 million renovation and expansion in 2008 roughly doubled its revenue, according to Indian Country Today; the hotel and event center came later. Today the hotel has 132 rooms including executive suites, and Oklahoma's official tourism listing describes a 16,000-square-foot event center that books national acts; the venue's own calendar showed Ann Wilson of Heart in September and Josh Turner in October 2026.

On the floor you will find video and VGT slots plus blackjack, war blackjack, roulette, craps and Ultimate Texas Hold'em, with a progressive side bet across the table games. Dining runs through 360 Restaurant, Apache Grill, the Loft Bar and Summit Coffee. The casino calls itself "Oklahoma's friendliest casino", and given its neighbour it runs a regular military appreciation promotion.

The age rule matters here: the venue's site says you must be 21 or older to enter the casino. That is stricter than many Oklahoma floors, so check our casino age guide before bringing a 19-year-old soldier from the post.

Comanche Nation Casino: the poker option

The Comanche Nation's own Lawton casino sits on SE Interstate Drive and markets itself on variety: gaming machines, live table games, an enclosed poker room and the Mustang Sports Grill. If poker is your reason to go out, this is the Lawton floor that advertises a dedicated room. The Comanche Nation's website does not publish a machine count or a minimum age on the pages we could load, so call ahead on both.

The Comanche sites outside town

The tribe runs three more casinos within easy reach of the city. Comanche Spur, on US 62 at Elgin, sits right next to Fort Sill and pairs a casino with a smoke shop. Comanche Star at Walters is a small, friendly room on Oklahoma 53. The largest is Comanche Red River Hotel Casino at Devol, on Oklahoma 36.

Red River is also where the tribe is investing. On 24 August 2025 Comanche Nation Entertainment closed War Pony Casino near Devol, which had opened only in 2022, and announced an expansion of Red River a few miles away: an event center, about 150 more slot machines, 15 table games, a new bar and food areas, plus an arcade and virtual golf suites, according to KSWO and CDC Gaming Reports.

Choosing between them

For a night with a room upstairs, Apache Casino Hotel. For poker, the Comanche Nation Casino on Interstate Drive. For a quick stop near the base gate, Comanche Spur. For the bigger resort-style trip, Red River at Devol, keeping in mind that its expansion work may affect what is open. If you are weighing a longer drive, our biggest casinos in Oklahoma list shows how far the southern border floors outsize anything in the Lawton area.
