Ask for a casino in Oklahoma City and most people will send you to Norman. The surprise is that the city does have one of its own, and it is a racetrack. Remington Park, in the Adventure District on the north-east side, describes its floor as "Oklahoma City's only casino": 750 electronic gaming machines, open around the clock, beside a track that runs two live seasons a year. Everything else people mean by an OKC casino sits outside the city, south in Norman or east along I-40 in Shawnee, and those are bigger rooms run by three different tribes.

Remington Park: the one inside city limits
Remington Park sits at One Remington Place in the Adventure District. Since January 2010 it has been owned by Global Gaming Solutions, a Chickasaw Nation subsidiary, which bought it for $80.25 million. The track is the reason to go: American Quarter Horses, Paints and Appaloosas race in the spring from March, and Thoroughbreds from August through the fall, with simulcast racing from other tracks every day. The casino floor is modest at 750 machines and has no live tables, so treat it as a racing night with slots attached. The house rules set 18 as the age to wager, with 21 for alcohol and tobacco.
Riverwind: the default answer
Riverwind, on State Highway 9 in Norman, is the casino most Oklahoma City residents actually mean. The Chickasaw Nation opened it in August 2006 with a 1,500-seat theatre already built in; Vince Gill, a Norman native, has played the Showplace Theatre. The resort says it now spans 287,000 square feet, with more than 2,800 electronic games, 19 table games (craps and roulette were only added in 2018) and a poker room. The hotel arrived in February 2009 with 100 rooms, linked to the casino by a sky bridge. If you want the largest floor within a short drive of downtown, this is it. Age to wager is 18.
Thunderbird: the smaller Norman option
Further east along the same highway, Thunderbird Casino at 15700 East State Highway 9 is one of two "boutique" casinos run by the Absentee Shawnee Tribe; the other is in Shawnee. Neither publishes a machine count, only "hundreds" of slots and "dozens" of table games across both sites, but they fill a different role from Riverwind: smaller rooms, weekly karaoke and live music, and high-stakes bingo on Wednesday evenings in Norman. Thunderbird's FAQ sets 18 with valid ID to enter.
Shawnee: two tribes, three casinos
Shawnee, east of the city on I-40, is the oddest casino town in the region. The Citizen Potawatomi Nation runs two properties there. The Grand Casino Hotel & Resort, at I-40 Exit 178, opened in 2006 as FireLake Grand Casino and took its current name in 2012 to separate it from the tribe's other FireLake businesses. It now lists more than 1,200 slot machines, a poker room open Wednesday to Saturday, and a hotel of 262 rooms on 14 floors. Then on 27 June 2025 the tribe opened a newly built FireLake Casino in south Shawnee, a smaller room of more than 49,000 square feet with around 450 slot machines and its own new hotel. Add the Absentee Shawnee Tribe's second Thunderbird on South Gordon Cooper Drive and you have three casinos from two tribes in one small city.
Which drive suits which night
For a race card with a few slots, stay in the city at Remington Park. For the most games, a show or a hotel room within half an hour of downtown, go to Riverwind. For a quieter room and bingo, Thunderbird in Norman. For an overnight on the I-40 corridor, the Grand at Shawnee has the hotel tower. If you are willing to drive two and a half hours south, the scale changes completely: our Choctaw Durant guide covers the route, and our biggest casinos list ranks every floor by its own published count.
